WHAT WE BELIEVE
We believe that there is One God common to all people. God is a loving Infinite Intelligence, operating through and as all life, never separate from anyone or anything. God is Infinite Love and Truth.

We teach Spiritual Principles that give us practical tools for living. We celebrate that Life is Good and that Love is Power—and that Power can be used by everyone. We know that as we awaken to our true spiritual nature, the world transforms.

BEGINNINGS
The InSpirit Center was established on Mothers’ Day, May 10th, 1999. It was the spiritual principles of Religious Science that guided and supported Revs. Sandy and Kirk through the loss of their daughter Tara. Moving to a place of love and greater understanding, it was their divine call to share these spiritual tenets with others to bring more light to the world.
TARA'S ANGELS
Tara’s Angels gift store was an inspiration after the loss of their 15-year-old daughter in 1992. Tara loved angels and their message of love and protection. After her passing, Rev. Sandy and Kirk received many angel gifts in honor of Tara. From this, they were divinely guided to open an angel store to create a place of love, hope and inspiration.
Tara's Angels attracted people from all over the world in search of the healing presence of angels. Sandy began teaching spiritual classes at Tara's Angels and began her studies to become a licensed minister in Religious Science, helping many to find something greater in their lives.
Realizing there were many people in need of community and a greater spiritual understanding, the store evolved into the creation of a Spiritual Center in 1999.
SCIENCE OF MIND
Science of Mind is the core teaching of Centers for Spiritual Living and InSpirit. Science of Mind (also referred to as Religious Science) is a philosophy that integrates spiritual truth with science and metaphysical teachings. Science of Mind teaches the unity of all life and is a branch of New Thought spirituality.
ERNEST HOLMES
Dr. Ernest Holmes founded the spiritual movement that started Centers for Spiritual Living. Born in 1887 on a small Maine farm, Dr. Holmes spent his teenage years out-of-doors, asking himself “What is God? Who am I? Why am I here?” This questioning led to his 1926 book, The Science of Mind, which outlined the foundational viewpoints of modern New Thought. Dr. Holmes is also the author of numerous other books on metaphysics and originated the international Science of Mind magazine, which has been in continuous publication since 1927. Holmes moved to Southern California in 1914 and founded the Institute of Religious Science, which became Centers for Spiritual Living. Holmes inspired the “positive thinking” of Norman Vincent Peale and countless others without ever intending to create a religion or a following of masses of people. Ernest Holmes made his transition in 1960.

NEW THOUGHT
New Thought spirituality incorporates the spiritual practices of affirmative prayer and creative visualization to transform lives and make the world more peaceful, harmonious, and abundant. It brings together the ancient wisdom of spiritual traditions through the ages. People of all spiritual paths - Christian, Jewish, Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim, and others - are all welcome. New Thought has an enduring and respected legacy that includes visionaries such as Ralph Waldo Emerson and Walt Whitman. Some of the modern day better-known authors whose writings represent our teachings are Wayne Dyer, Deepak Chopra, Michael Bernard Beckwith, Byron Katie, and Eckhart Tolle, as well as many others.

REV. SANDY MOORE
FOUNDING MINISTER & SPIRITUAL LEADER
Rev. Sandy Moore co-founded the Center for Universal Truth, now known as InSpirit Center for Spiritual Living Orange County, in May of 1999 with her husband, Rev. Kirk, who is the Center’s music director. Her journey to the ministry began in 1992 after the tragic, sudden death of her teenage daughter, Tara, in a car crash. Following Tara’s death, Sandy and her husband Kirk uncovered a fascination that Tara had for angels. Grief-stricken and searching for answers, the couple opened an angel store called Tara’s Angels, in San Juan Capistrano, as a way of honoring their beloved child. The specialty shop and the Moore’s story was widely covered by both local and national media, including a cover story in People Magazine and an in-depth piece on the TV news magazine, Dateline. Tara’s Angels soon attracted people from all over the world who came to share their own grief and talk about the loss of a loved one. There were so many people that Sandy started facilitating a regular support group at the store. At the time, Sandy had enjoyed 20 years as an elementary school teacher. With encouragement from her husband and members of the support group, Sandy completed her ministerial training and the Moores founded The Center for Universal Truth in Mission Viejo on Mother’s Day in May 1999. In January 2002, the Center relocated to a larger home in San Juan Capistrano to accommodate its rapidly growing membership. The Moores also made the decision to close Tara’s Angels so they could focus more on their growing Center ministry. In 2007, the name was changed to InSpirit Center for Spiritual Living and in May 2009, the InSpirit Center relocated to Mission Viejo in their current location. Rev. Sandy is the co-author with her daughter Deanna Moore of The Green Intention: Living in Sustainable Joy.
REV. KIRK MOORE
CO-MINISTER + MUSIC DIRECTOR
Rev. Kirk Moore is the co-minister and Music Director at InSpirit Center for Spiritual Living established in May 1999. Kirk is a native Californian, born and raised in Redondo Beach, California. Kirk and his wife Sandy raised their two daughters in Los Angeles County and Orange County. Kirk has studied piano and music since the age of four and was quite involved with musical theatre during high school and college. In 1972, he created his own band, Moore & More that performed in clubs throughout the Los Angeles area. Kirk’s relationship with God has been a deep and motivating factor in his life from a very young age. He has been involved with Religious Science since 1980 when he and Sandy discovered the Redondo Beach Church of Religious Science, which was in direct alignment with his belief system. After moving to Orange County in 1988, Kirk and Sandy started attending the Capistrano Valley Church of Religious Science and became extremely involved with the church and diligently pursued their studies. When Kirk lost his fifteen-year-old daughter, his life took on a new dimension and his life course was altered forever. Kirk and Sandy opened a store in San Juan Capistrano in 1993 called Tara’s Angels, which experienced worldwide attention through numerous television appearances and the cover of People magazine. The store became a haven for healing and understanding by those who came to visit. Eventually, spiritual classes were offered in the store during the evening. Kirk has authored two books, which are non-fictional accounts of his spiritual odyssey and evolutionary life: One Family’s Extraordinary Journey of Courage and Healing and Tara’s Angels. From all the people who visited the store and wanted to learn more about the spiritual universe, it was a natural progression to create a spiritual center. In May of 1999, The Center for Universal Truth was born. Kirk, with his in-depth and experienced musical background, became the musical director and an integral part of the Center and its continued growth. The Center has a band, on-staff singer, various musical guests and a dynamic choir. Kirk continues to grow the music program as the Center grows and flourishes. Kirk teaches classes and is very involved in special programs at the Center. Kirk is an integral part of the leadership at InSpirit teaching, developing inspirational music all in an effort to continue creating a place of love, healing and inspiration.

Our Practitioners are dedicated to knowing divine truth on behalf of our member community and the world. You may contact an individual Practitioner directly or make a prayer request through our Office Administrator.
Practitioners complete a professional course of study in the use of the Science of Mind philosophy and after passing rigorous written and oral examinations, are licensed by the Centers for Spiritual Living as a professional Practitioner (RScP). Practitioners teach classes, provide affirmative prayer and perform sacred ceremonies such as the blessing of new beginnings, rites of passage and memorial services. They are available to you for prayer after our Sunday Service and by appointment.
